Why we do what we do?

We champion creativity as the wellspring of curiosity, critical thinking, and expressive confidence. When young people and educators engage in our programmes, they don't just learn techniques—they discover their voice, take creative risks, and develop the courage to bring bold ideas to life. Creativity isn't a luxury in education; it's essential to navigating a complex, ever-changing world with imagination and resilience.

We create shared spaces where diverse perspectives meet, intersect, and enrich one another. Through collaborative arts experiences that span continents, languages, and traditions, ISTA participants build empathy and cultural literacy. We believe that when people from different backgrounds create together, they forge connections that transcend borders—connections rooted in shared humanity, mutual respect, and genuine understanding.

We gather people together not despite their differences, but because of them. ISTA communities are vibrant, inclusive spaces where diversity is celebrated as a strength and every voice matters. Whether at a festival in Asia, a workshop in Europe, or through our digital platforms, we create environments where young people, teachers, and artists feel they belong—where friendship, collegiality, and play thrive alongside rigorous artistic work.

We know that the most powerful learning happens when we create together. Collaboration is woven into every ISTA experience—students learning alongside international peers, teachers developing practice with fellow educators, artists co-creating with young people. Through ensemble-based approaches that share power and responsibility, we model the kind of collaborative leadership the world needs: one grounded in trust, mutual support, and collective empowerment.

HS Deep Dive Festival- Geneva, Switzerland
Thank you so much for this phenomenal festival. We spoke at length with ISTA about it, but even after coming back, the passion our students developed for theatre, how life changing this experience was for our students. Parents have emailed us about it, our director has gotten in touch – just such an amazing positive experience.

Students meeting and collaborating with students from other schools and other countries is invaluable. They start to think of themselves as part of a global artistic community.'
