ISTA’s Board of Trustees plays a vital role in guiding our strategic direction and ensuring our continued impact. As a UK-registered charity, ISTA follows the governance principles set by the UK Charity Commission, with trustees responsible for overseeing the organisation’s mission, financial health, and long-term sustainability.
The Role of an ISTA Trustee
As a registered UK charity, ISTA’s trustees play a vital role in ensuring the organisation operates in line with its mission, complies with all legal and regulatory obligations, and manages its resources responsibly. In accordance with Charity Commission guidance, trustees safeguard ISTA’s values and long-term sustainability. Trustees are appointed for four-year terms and contribute to shaping the charity’s direction, growth, and impact.
ISTA trustees are also responsible for the following specific area.
Setting ISTA’s strategic direction by reviewing our mission, establishing priorities, and planning for the future
Ensuring and protecting resources, overseeing finances, physical assets, and ISTA’s reputation
Providing oversight, ensuring strong governance, policies, and programme evaluation
Engaging in outreach, advocating for ISTA’s mission and representing our diverse community.
Our trustees are not involved in day-to-day management, which is led by our executive director and core team. Instead, they guide ISTA’s vision and sustainability, ensuring we continue to thrive as a leader in global arts learning.
