Virtual IB Workshop: DP Theatre

About this event

Join ISTA’s three-day virtual IB DP Category 1 & 2 (combined) Theatre workshop, a dynamic learning experience designed to deepen understanding of theatre practise, pedagogy, and assessment.

This event is offered in 2 regions. Please see "Schedule" section below for specific timings and time zones.

Led by an experienced IB theatre educator, participants will explore how to:

  • Interpret and deliver the IB DP theatre guide with clarity and creativity.
  • Integrate authentic theatre-making processes into classroom practise.
  • Apply IB assessment criteria with clarity.
  • Design and develop practical strategies to nurture student agency, engagement, collaboration, and reflection.

Participants will leave with practical tools, creative inspiration, and the confidence to design meaningful theatre learning experiences for students in any context.

Why learn with ISTA?
ISTA is an officially accredited IB DP provider, delivering high-quality IB DP Arts workshops worldwide.

What makes ISTA different?

  • Practise-based learning: Our workshops are uniquely practical, and with an immersive approach, we ensure educators experience theatre and film in action rather than  just discussing it in theory.
  • Creative pedagogy: Bridge artistic practise with IB curriculum design and assessment requirements. Our workshops are dynamic, hands-on, and industry-informed.
  • Expert facilitators: Learn from IB-certified educators and active professional practitioners.
  • Global community: Connect with a diverse network of international educators and creative professionals.

Every ISTA workshop offers a uniquely immersive, industry-informed experience inspiring teachers to reimagine their classroom practise and foster deeper student engagement.

Category 1 & 2 – Combined

This combined workshop is ideal for both:

Category 1 participants: Teachers new to the IB DP Theatre course seeking foundational knowledge of the IB philosophy and assessment framework.

Category 2 participants: Experienced IB DP Theatre teachers looking to deepen their understanding, refine assessment practises, and exchange ideas with peers.

Please Note: Although this is a combined learning experience, participants register for either Category 1 or Category 2, depending on their level of experience. Each participant receives an IB certificate for the category in which they are registered, not for both.

Over three days, participants will:

  • Examine the IB DP Theatre guide, syllabus, assessment requirements and unpack key components.
  • Practise marking and moderating student work to strengthen assessment literacy.
  • Develop strategies to strengthen teaching, feedback and grading practises, and design a course that integrates authentic assessment while supporting student success.
  • Collaborate to design theatre learning experiences that support creativity, reflection, and student success.

Whether participants are building firm foundations or evolving an established practise, this workshop provides a collaborative, supportive space to learn, exchange ideas, and evolve as an IB Theatre educator.
