Virtual IB Workshop - DP Film

About this event

Join ISTA’s three-day virtual IB DP Category 1 and Category 2 Film workshop, designed for both new and experienced IB Film teachers who want to strengthen and deepen their understanding of film practice, pedagogy, and IB assessment. 

This event features the following specific workshop categories (delete as necessary for your event listing):

  • Category 1 – For teachers new to IB DP Film who want to build a strong foundation in the IB philosophy, course structure, and assessment framework.
  • Category 2 – For experienced IB Film teachers seeking to refine their approach, deepen assessment literacy, and share innovative classroom practices.

Led by expert film educators, this hands-on workshop explores key elements such as:

  • Reading, analysing and contextualising film through multiple lenses.
  • Experimenting with film production roles and collaboratively producing film. 
  • Understanding and applying IB assessment criteria with clarity. 
  • Designing engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences for students.

    This event features the following specific workshop categories:

    Category 1 – Introduction to IB DP Film

    • Perfect for teachers who are new to the DP Film course or looking to build confidence before teaching it for the first time.
    • This workshop introduces the philosophy and structure of the IB, explores the core aims and objectives of the DP Film curriculum, and unpacks each assessment component step by step.
    • You’ll leave with a clear understanding of the course framework, practical strategies to support student success, and a strong foundation for creating a film-learning environment that is both creative and conceptually rigorous.

    Category 2 – Developing Your Practice

    • Designed for teachers with some experience teaching DP Film, this workshop helps you deepen your practice and refine your approach to curriculum planning, teaching, and assessment.
    • We’ll explore strategies for delivering key syllabus areas, examine ways to elevate student work through stronger conceptual understanding, and share effective approaches for supporting learners through the assessment tasks.
    • Through collaboration, discussion, and reflection, you’ll enhance your confidence and develop practical tools to take your teaching to the next level.

    • Day 3: 9:00am–3:00pm BST – Focus on assessment, reflection, and next steps before the event closes.
    • Comfort and lunch breaks are built into the schedule each day to ensure a balanced and engaging workshop experience.
    • Participants will receive 15 hours of instruction time

    NOTE: The IB requires participants to attend all sessions on all days to receive a certificate of completion. If you have an unavoidable scheduling conflict, please contact the Event Manager before the workshop begins.

  • Booking & Registration

    All IB Workshop bookings are made via our online registration form.

    To complete your booking:

    1. Provide key participant and school details, including your name, contact information, dietary or accessibility needs, and whether you’re an ISTA member.
    2. Share your IB teaching experience.
    3. Confirm your agreement to ISTA’s Terms & Conditions, including media consent and account creation.

    Once submitted, your booking details are saved and automatically shared with event organisers to ensure a smooth experience.

  • Payment Process

    Once booked and invoiced, the registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable as per event terms and conditions.

    • A secure link and joining instructions will be sent to all registered participants approximately one week before the event.
