Virtual IB Workshop - DP Film Cat 1 & 2

About this event

Join ISTA’s three-day virtual IB DP Category 1 & 2 (combined) Film workshop, designed for both new and experienced IB Film teachers who want to strengthen and deepen their understanding of film practice, pedagogy, and IB assessment.

This event is offered in 2 regions. Please see "Schedule" section below for specific timings and time zones.

Led by expert film educators, this hands-on workshop explores key elements such as:

  • Reading, analysing and contextualising film through multiple lenses.
  • Experimenting with film production roles and collaboratively producing film.
  • Understanding and applying IB assessment criteria with clarity.
  • Designing engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences for students.

Why learn with ISTA?
ISTA is an officially accredited IB PD provider delivering high-quality IB DP Arts workshops worldwide.

What makes ISTA different?

  • Practise-based learning: Our workshops are uniquely practical, and with an immersive approach, we ensure educators experience theatre and film in action rather than  just discussing it in theory.
  • Creative pedagogy: Bridge artistic practise with IB curriculum design and assessment requirements. Our workshops are dynamic, hands-on, and industry-informed.
  • Expert facilitators: Learn from IB-certified educators and active professional practitioners.
  • Global community: Connect with a diverse network of international educators and creative professionals.

Every ISTA workshop offers a uniquely immersive, industry-informed experience inspiring teachers to reimagine their classroom practise and foster deeper student engagement.

Category 1 & 2 – Combined

This combined workshop supports:

  • Category 1 participants: Teachers new to the IB DP Film course who are seeking foundational understanding of the IB philosophy, course structure, and assessment framework.

  • Category 2 participants: Experienced IB FIlm teachers wishing to refine their teaching approach, explore new methodologies, and collaborate on best practices.

Please Note: Although this is a combined learning experience, participants register for either Category 1 or Category 2, depending on their level of experience. Each participant receives an IB certificate for the category in which they are registered, not for both.

Over three days, participants will:

  • Explore the IB DP guide and unpack its key components.
  • Examine effective strategies for assessment, curriculum planning and student engagement.
  • Share classroom experiences and reflect on film as a creative and cultural practice.
  • Strengthen understanding of the course in action and feel confident in applying IB standards and practises.
