For student filmmakers
The Film Research and Methods Exploratorium is rooted in IB DP Film and open to any student keen to make films. Students learn through making, not for an assessment.
Day 1
Quick-fire explorations of cinematography, editing, sound and writing, each tested straight away on students’ own devices.
Day 2
Teams of four take one script. Each directs their own version, then crews and acts on their teammates’.
Day 2
No professional kit needed: teams shoot on the devices they bring, with creative challenges from Day 1.
Day 3
Teams edit together, cutting their films to 60 seconds.
Day 3
A closing screening to celebrate. Showing is always the student’s choice, with no prizes or rankings.
Teachers join in as learners too, with two professional learning sessions of their own.
