Shanghai IB Workshop - DP Film

About this event

Join ISTA for an immersive three-day IB DP Film workshop designed to deepen your understanding of film practise, pedagogy, and assessment within the IB framework.

Led by expert film educators, this hands-on professional development experience explores key aspects of film learning and teaching through both creative practise and academic inquiry.

Across three days, participants will:

  • Engage in practical exercises around reading, analysing, and contextualising film.
  • Experiment with production roles and collaboratively producing film.
  • Explore strategies for teaching film analysis and production within the DP Film course.
  • Gain clarity and confidence in applying IB Film assessment criteria and designing engaging learning experiences for students.

Participants will leave with actionable strategies and a deeper understanding of how to inspire critical and creative engagement with film in their classrooms.

This event features the following specific workshop categories:

  • Category 1 & 2 (Combined) – For mixed groups of new and experienced teachers exploring both foundational and advanced aspects of IB Film teaching.  Note: Participants will register for the appropriate category based on their experience level and receive a certificate for the registered category only.

  • Category 3: Practical Film Production – For experienced IB Film teachers interested in exploring the creative and technical processes of filmmaking and how to integrate them into the DP Film curriculum.
