Jakarta FRAME

About this event

What is FRAME?
FRAME
stands for Film Research and Methods Exploratorium — a dynamic, three-day immersive experience designed specifically for current and aspiring IB DP Film students.

At FRAME, students dive into the art of storytelling, production techniques, and collaborative filmmaking. Under the guidance of four expert IB film practitioners and an ISTA Artistic Director, participants create original short films while exploring key roles such as directing, cinematography, editing, and sound. The event embraces a tech-lite approach, focusing on creativity, clarity of vision, and storytelling impact over technical complexity. This practical process supports the creation of short films that can contribute to the IB DP Film Portfolio or equivalent projects in other curricula.

The experience culminates in a screening and reflection session, where students present their films and receive constructive feedback in a supportive, celebratory environment. Open to students aged 15-18 (MYP Year 5, GCSE, and beyond), FRAME offers a valuable opportunity for all young filmmakers to collaborate, create, and inspire.

FRAME Highlights

  • Develop and produce original short films using critical film vocabulary, visual storytelling techniques, and cultural context
  • Build practical skills across a range of production roles
  • Workshop ideas, texts, and stimuli in a collaborative and experimental environment
  • Participate in creative filmmaking exercises and story-building challenges
  • Share and critique peer work through guided, reflective discussion

A Global Collaboration
FRAME brings together students from international schools around the world to collaborate, experiment, and grow. It’s a space where young filmmakers learn from professionals, challenge themselves creatively, and connect across cultures — all through the lens of film.

Accessibility at the school venue

Please note that while the school does not have permanent wheelchair ramps, portable ramps can be provided upon request wherever needed. An elevator lift is available in the secondary wing of the building, providing access to all six floors.
