Join ISTA for a dynamic two-day studio designed for educators ready to bring the often-overlooked world of technical theatre into vibrant, intentional focus in their classrooms and productions.

This immersive, hands-on workshop builds essential knowledge and practical skills across key technical theatre areas—including lighting and rigging, sound design and equipment, set integration, light plots, and cue sheets—all grounded in real-world, performance-based contexts. Whether you’re working in a fully equipped theatre or a multipurpose classroom, you’ll leave with adaptable, accessible strategies to confidently introduce technical theatre across a range of settings and student needs.

Through creative exploration, you’ll learn how to use technical elements not just functionally but expressively—enhancing Tension, Emotion, Atmosphere, and Meaning (TEAM) in student-led performance work. Gain tools to help students understand the impact of design choices on audience experience and deepen their creative and critical engagement. You’ll also co-create curriculum-aligned lesson ideas and units, exploring how to scaffold technical theatre for learners of all levels while fostering collaboration, creativity, and confidence.

Connect with global peers, share resources, and build a network of educators committed to inclusive, student-centred practice.

Leave inspired, resourced, and ready to make technical theatre a vibrant, integral part of your thetare or arts curriculum.
